The question:
6 Did you choose your current profession/job or somehow just end up in it?
I think I have written on this subject before. I always wanted to have a career as an artist but didn't really know how to do that. Didn't have the amount of discipline and drive to be a self promoter. I left high school and within weeks started work at Polk Center - a large institution taking care of mentally challenged folks. It was one of the primary jobs available in our county back in the day. I liked the job and did well. Liked to work night shift where I was the main person in charge of my sleeping folks. I worked there on and off from 1971 to 1987. When we had Chloe I quit for good and became a stay at home mom. Thought maybe then would be the time to work on an art career. Dave was supportive. I went to street fairs and commissioned my art to little stores and galleries. I started with watercolor paintings, then linoleum block prints, switched to making fimo clay art jewelry and eventually progressed to making silver jewelry. But as I said before I never did reach the point where I was making a living at it. When my parents needed help I ended up putting my energy into that instead. According to my taxes for many years it was a loss. It was a good way to write off my love for art supplies and be able to try out lots of art mediums. So I don't know how to answer the question. I did end up with it as part time work but it took many years to get there.
Anyway.
Going biking today with Candy. The plan is to go to the
Rail 66 Trail and bike half of it. Maybe another day we will do the rest.
