The question:
4 Are you a Baby Boomer, Generation Jones, Gen X, Millennial, or younger? What’s a generalization people make about your generation cohort that’s all wrong?
Baby Boomer. I think some people think us oldies are all republicans or Rumpers. Not true at all. Generation Jones? I never heard of that before. Wiki says: Generation Jones is the social cohort of the latter half of the Baby boomers to the first years of Generation X. The term was first coined by the cultural commentator Jonathan Pontell, who identified the cohort as those born from 1954 to 1965 in the U.S. I'm close to that, being born in 1953. I also have friends in the Silent Generation - they don't even mention that.
We have had a lot of rain lately but are supposed to have a dry morning. Candy and I are biking. Don't know where yet.
My life lately has been good. Piano practice, painting glaze in the basement, taking pictures, appreciating Dave and the animals, summer(!) and all the summer stuff I love. Dave was looking at the online newspaper and I went behind him and saw he was reading the obituaries. My first thought - that'll be us soon. Damn it, I don't want it to be over yet. Every day we are threatened by and hear about The Covid Coming. Now they are recommending that even if you live in rural areas if you live with people who go out in the world you should wear masks in the house if you are at risk. Maybe they are trying to get us used to being careful when the children have to go back to school soon. We live with Hazel and she goes out in the world to work at Walmart every day. Will we start to wear masks around her? It feels like I want to grab onto and love life even more right now. Can't let a moment go by wasted. By wasted I mean not experienced. I have to try and be present to every moment more than ever. Is this what happens to people who have cancer and they say that their lives are richer now? They finally appreciate life?
Practicing and learning El Condor Pasa on piano. I love that song. It makes such a difference to me if I love the song I am practicing or just practicing a Suzuki song. Some Suzuki songs don't even sound like songs! Just complicated mixtures of notes. I admire a kid who can learn that way. But I'm too old for that - I want to enjoy playing a song I love.
