wet wednesday

Good morning. Rainy morning. Jan and I were planning to walk today but it’s too wet. A stay at home day (till my piano lesson at 3:30). I hope to get myself down to the basement for some cleaning and organizing. I have two things that I have been dragging my feet on. 1) Making the watchband for Kathy (but I finished the prototype yesterday and am mailing it for her to try on today so yay!) and 2) Getting a work space for clay in the basement. If I could get myself down there today it would be so great.

I ordered the new laptop last night. Felt it was time to end the research. Now I’m looking forward to its arrival in a couple weeks. There are a few things that are very annoying about my old laptop (which I am using right now to type this) - the fact that suddenly the cursor will jump to another place and I will be typing there instead. Or suddenly because the cursor jumped it will erase all the stuff that it jumped over. Another annoying thing - a lot of the paint is gone from the keyboard and I can’t read what is on the keys anymore. Finding where I am on the keyboard is trial and error. I am experimenting with the LibreOffice I downloaded yesterday. My ipad can’t read things that I make with it’s “Writer” program and saved in it’s preferred style which is ODT so that’s a problem. Though I can save it in PDF form and send it that way and it can be opened and read by the ipad. Problems to be solved. But! Most everything I write in something like Word is just used by myself to print off here at home. I rarely if ever send anything in that form. A couple of LJ friends mentioned using Google.Docs too and that might be my go between to a free future! I've now set my mind to refusal to ever pay for Microsoft Office (again).

Time for breakfast now and onward.
