I got up around 4 am this morning with an idea to make a bar of soap.

I'm pleased with the fact that it takes up so little room to make just one bar and so little time. It takes 30 seconds to melt 2 ounces of the transparent soap, and another minute to add the color, scent and inclusions and pour it in the mold. Then wait a half hour or so for it to firm up, and do it all over again for the opaque layer and done. Each mold cavity holds 4 ounces. It's not like I want a LOT of soap sitting around my house so I won't be making a lot but when I want some I can make it easy enough. And if I want to give someone a gift of soap I can think it up and have it ready in a couple hours! I put it in the fridge and it was ready to take out of the mold in an hour.

This one is lavender and vanilla scented. I might give it to Jules.

Our weather is supposed to warm up considerably today. That will be nice. Dave and I took the dogs walking on the bike trail at Franklin last night. Big difference from when we first got Andy and tried to walk him in the same area. He was crazy excited back then and barked constantly and pulled like a fiend. It was impossible to have him in a public space back then. We had a nice walk last night though! I guess that is the difference between a 4 month old lab and a 3 year old lab.

Andy still wants to pull - that's why the leash is wrapped around his tummy. It really helps.

After our walk we went out to eat at the Jumbo Buffet and then quick shopping at Walmart for craft sticks. I wanted them to stir the soap - thought it would be better to have something disposable.
