I got up at 4:45 today. I guess I must have finally gotten caught up with my sleep yesterday.
13F outside right now, though it feels like 5F with windchill.
Last night Dave and I went shopping at Tractor Supply and I got 2 new bird feeders. One for thistle and one regular. I also got 3 bags of bird seed - different kinds. I recently got a "superior" finch blend and they loved it so much that I had to refill the feeder twice everyday and I wanted to get more of that. But then I wondered if they might be okay with an "economy" blend too. Usually I only feed black oil sunflower seeds (the old standby) and suet, but wanted to branch out and maybe get some new birds. That's where all those juncos came from yesterday - the finch seed. And we are getting a lot more goldfinches with it too. I'm looking forward to first light this morning to see how they like the new feeders and the new feed. I haven't seen any purple finches in a while - maybe we will have them again.
