This morning bill_schubert showed a link to this cool site where you can map your walk and see the distance you have gone (it is in km). I just tried it out with the hike that Jan and I did yesterday. Usually I carry a GPS watch with me and it tells me very accurately how many miles I have gone plus when I get home I can hook it up to my computer and it shows me the map but I forgot to bring it yesterday. So this site showed me in a general way about how far we walked. Though I think our walk might have been farther than the 6.1 km I mapped cause the trail wanders through the woods and I mapped it pretty straight:

6.1 km is equal to about 3 3/4 miles and I think my feet agree that the hike was at least that far. They were hurting. I am trying to not walk over 3 miles at a time till the plantar fasciitis is all better.

The weather has turned cold. And overcast again. I am so glad I got out yesterday in the sun and took some pictures. I had this idea that our autumn was messed up and late but I looked at pictures from years before and it looks about the same. Though I think the leaves started turning late this year but at this point things are the same.

Rotating around the house this morning - doing a little to declutter the dining table, glue and paint a page in my journal, fold a few clothes, practice the uke a bit, check the computer (write this LJ), plus check the bathroom for chicken poo, empty and fill the dishwasher and just general puttering, rinse and repeat...

daily life, hiking, mapping app, plantar fasciitis
