At the new year I decided that as a goal for the new year (and the rest of my life) I would try to be happier. For meditation time in the morning I started reading chapters from a book about the Dalai Lama called The Art of Happiness and just recently Berdella told me about the book Solve for Happy by Mo Gawdat. Solve for Happy recommends you start by making a list of when you have been happy in the past. He recommends you do it now and then add to it daily as you go along. So this might be an ongoing tag I will use.
I feel happy when....
when I read in bed
when I write affirmations in my journal
when I sit in the sun
when I walk a trail with a friend
when I bike somewhere
when I am on a photo spree
when I process photos
when I write an LJ
when I have a good poop (took a break to do that just now)
when I have lunch with a friend
when I am working at making an Everything Book
when I am on the cloud walker
when I draw
I wanted to put things like when I clean the house, or throw something away. I know there is a good feeling when I finally do those kinds of things but they are not something I look forward to doing. Sometimes the urge to clean builds up in me and then it's like I can't not do it anymore so I do it. A lot of my unhappiness comes from the buildup of old stuff around here and especially in the basement. I dread dealing with it. Many times I am sad, angry and confused as I am working on it. So it will be interesting to see what Mo Gawdat has to say about those kinds of situations.
Today we are taking Johnny back to Clarion. I'm sorry to see him go but it looks like another lovely sunny day. Maybe we will take Andy for a run in the woods on the way home.
i feel happy when,
