Not planning to do much today. We already did the one big thing we had planned to do which was go to the beach one last time with Laurie and Kathy. We also stopped at the boat basin where manatees frequent and saw 2, maybe 3 of them. We really didn't see them very well - just some noses in the middle of the little lake. There was something else there though that really impressed me - some kind of insect was in the trees overhead. They were so loud. I could hardly believe it. The sound was like a rattle/screech. We have cicadas up north - they are very loud too but this was a deeper more penetrating sound.
A picture from the beach. I thought the little coquina clams were so neat. Bunches of them wash up with each fresh wave and then immediately start to dig themselves into the sand. If you have a handful of them you can feel them reaching the bottom and tickling your palm as they try to go deeper into your hand. They come in a rainbow of colors. Kathy took this picture for me and made sure to get my feet in the picture. She thought the tan markings on my feet from my sandals were funny. They are. I think they make me look like a spotted animal.
The rest of the day we will clean house here, wash clothes, clean sand out of the rental car and pack. Kathy, Laurie and maybe Pete will stop by later to see our house and say goodbye.
