busy days

Tuesday - my birthday was really nice - Jan and I walked a woods path on the hill beside Lake Wilhelm and returned by way of the bike path - 4 miles in all. I kept thinking what a perfect thing to do for my birthday. Afterwards we went to Granthams and I had my favorite meal - seafood salad. Now I can't remember what happened the rest of the afternoon but I do remember that it was getting late and we still hadn't had dinner yet so I suggested that Dave and I go out for dessert for dinner. Something I always want to do but I never do it. He had to go to Home Depot so we went to Valley Dairy - I had apple pie a la mode and he had a sundae. Andy waited in the car - we could see him from the window of the restaurant and he was sitting in the driver's seat and watching out the windows. I took him out the crust from my pie for being a good boy.

Yesterday was another super day. Rossy went with me to treatment and before treatment we walked around the lake at Moody Park. He was fascinated by the geese. The two families were there and swam over to us. There was also a lone goose without a family. He came up on the bank close by and stuck his tongue out at us. Came home, and then later Berdella picked me up and we went to Two Mile Run to walk. One of my favorite places to walk - the path that follows 2 Mile Run before it goes into the lake. Came home and had a tiny nap before Nancy came by to pick me up for our appointments to have our tarot cards read at Amazing Foods.

My cards. The reader used a combination of Osho cards and Smith-Waite cards.

Leni, our tarot reader. She gave me some interesting advice about how to deal with cancer or any illness. Do a meditation where you imagine yourself putting your sword and shield to the side and welcome the cancer (or whatever) into you and ask it to teach you whatever lesson it is there for. Tell it you love it and you accept it and are willing to hear what it has to say.

After the reading Nancy came back to my house and we chicken watched for a while.

Later Jules invited Dave and me over for burrito night at his house. He makes a vegan version of a 7 layer burrito that is pretty darn good. Fake meat, fake sour cream and fake cheddar cheese. I think he has perfected the best place to find those things so they taste good. Plus there are "real" things in there - tomatoes, lettuce, black olives, taco sauce, Spanish rice, refried beans...

I went to bed early last night - before 9 even - it was still light. I am doing that more and more often now. I guess that is how I am dealing with any fatigue I might have - going to bed earlier at night. Finished reading the book I mentioned before - Smoke Gets in your Eyes. I wish it wasn't over. I very much enjoyed reading it.

This morning I thought I would try doing a Tarot-a-Day again.

My card - Death from the Golden Tarot deck. I think it is telling me to learn to be quiet, be still within - let go. Get ready for the next phase. I do think this cancer experience will be changing me somewhat. I have lost interest in the type of art I was doing before. I will still make jewelry but I think it will be different somehow. I'm not sure how yet though.

I found out this morning after I got there that the radiation machine was broken so no treatment today. Instead of it ending on the 27th the treatments will go on till the 28th - that is if they get the machine fixed today. I found out some interesting information about radiation yesterday. What they called "big treatments" are done with photons. And the "small treatments" I am getting now at the end of the process are done with electrons. Photons pass right through your body but electrons only penetrate a short way into your body and stop. They are pointing the electron projector straight at my breast now in a smaller area and it won't affect my lungs. I got the first electron treatment yesterday and it only lasted about 30 seconds compared to the around 140 seconds it took when I was getting the photon treatments. (I count the seconds in my head.)

More stuff happening today. We got a new credit card with new numbers. They closed the old card and I neglected to switch all the internet accounts we have (phone bill, etsy, paypal etc...) to the new card and today they cut off our phone. I've been busy all afternoon updating things. Done now.

Tonight we will be having a second celebration of Rossy's birthday. None of his presents had arrived on Sunday but they are here now.
