Two families of geese.
Had some time to kill yesterday morning so I thought I would check out Moody Park near the hospital. I had noticed the lake by the road for many years but now suddenly there is a lawn, pavilion and restrooms back there. I walked around the buildings and then over to the lake. The geese were all on the far side but when they saw me coming they started swimming across the lake to me. It was neat. They stayed there a few minutes - maybe hoping I would have something to feed them, which I didn't and then after awhile we all lost interest and they swam away and I walked away.
Later Jules, Dave and I came home to see a big black bear sitting on his butt under the bird feeder with the feeder in his paws "sipping" the seeds out of it. He was big enough that he didn't have to detach it from the pole to have his mouth reach that high. It was kind of nice that he really did no damage to it - the pole wasn't bent or anything. I suppose though that when he was done getting the easy seeds out he might have broken and pulled at things to get the last seeds out. We just caught him in time. Jules honked the car horn and we all yelled and he ambled away. Dave found his rubber bullets and loaded his gun. If the bear bothers the chickens that will be the plan for that. The day before we saw 3 cute little baby skunks eating the seeds under the feeder. They hid under a bush when we came out and later we saw them with their mother heading in the direction of the neighbors.

At the hospital there is a basket where we receivers of radiation keep our smocks between treatments. In the beginning I shared the basket with one other woman - her smock was beige and she has now finished up her treatment - graduated. Now I have 2 new compatriots. I haven't met either of them but from their smock choices I have ideas of what they might be like - though I am probably wrong I still like to imagine them. I feel friendly towards them. I call them Purple Smock and Red Smock.

Chloe texted to ask what she could get Dave for Father's Day or me for my birthday and I thought to say we could use help with the basement. The spot we want to use for the summer seating area is a space she uses for storing her stuff. She got a lot of it out a few months back but there is still stuff there. She is a wonder at organizing things and can make a junk room look clean and spacious without even taking anything out of it. I have a piano that has been hidden for many years behind stored stuff and I am kind of excited about getting it unearthed. It will be fun to play around on that in the future.
