bear town rocks

Jumbles of rocks.

Dave and I took Andy to Bear Town Rocks this afternoon (that name just sounds so funny to me). It is a place of huge rocks that have been left behind as everything slowly eroded away around them at Clear Creek Forest. It wasn't that cold today - only about 25 F but for some reason it felt bitterly cold - I guess it was the wind. I have not felt as cold as this all winter long.

Climbing towards the bigger rocks.

The path.

A hole through the rocks. This kind of thing just mystifies me. I realize that these rocks are like this cause the rest got eroded away but how did the rock mass under this rock leave the area? You would think the rock on top would be protecting it from erosion. Just amazing to me to try and imagine it.

Stairs that someone built so you could get up to a big flat rock and see the view from up there.

Dave slipping away through a crevasse in the rocks while I made a funny shadow holding the camera.

More rocks ahead.

The rock with the viewing platform.

Dave looking down at me from up on the viewing platform.

Steps going up.

Tilted.

Viewing "the big level".

Far away. That dip in the level is probably the Clarion River valley.

Scenery.

Someone wrote sundude? on this rock - seems so dumb to write stuff on these magnificent rocks.

Trees and rocks.

Riddled with holes.

Someone lost a turtle bracelet.

Dave ahead.

Andy and Dave waiting for me.

Like a stack of pancakes.

Texture.

Seeing the hole though from the the other side.

On the way home we stopped at another place near Kossuth and walked a railroad trail. But I got cold again very quickly and we turned back. It was good to get home and make dinner. Dave had thawed some fish and I made a stew with almond milk and half and half with onions and celery. I used the Soul Seasoning that I got a while ago. Delish.
