It was a (relatively) warm day today - overcast. Dave and I took Andy down to the creek for a walk this afternoon. This time I wanted to actually go down into the gully that runs through the woods over to the lake. I've never been in it, even after all these years. We found a place that we could climb down.
The old road that used to go through the woods is in the upper middle area. The gully starts where the road once was - first it started by washing that out - and then the gully heads towards the lake.
Gutted.
In the direction of the lake.
Looking back towards the old road.
Lake ahead.
Colorful rocks.
You can see where the most recent flood flattened the brush as it rushed to the lake.
We saw otters in the lake today - that's the first time I've ever seen them in the lake or the creek here.
Closer.
Looking back towards the gully.
Standing in the same spot but looking towards the lake now. This is the spot that had all the garbage left by fishermen. I hadn't gotten there to clean it up before we had the last flood. The garbage is all probably at the bottom of the lake now.
Dramatic sky.
Dave watching the otters.
Striped sky.
Another gully that is emptying into the lake but this one heads straight over to the creek. This is where the break through from the creek into the lake, changing the course of the creek, will probably happen when it does. There is only about 45 feet of non-affected land left between the upper end of this gully and the creek.
Dave found a neat rock with a hole in it. :-)
