catching up on news

I had a big disappointment yesterday morning when I went to check on the epoxy resin that I had put over my shrinky art in the 6 pendants I had made. It was still tacky even after sitting overnight! So I put them into my kiln set at 150 degrees for 1 hour yesterday morning (which is another way to speed the hardening of the epoxy the directions say) and it was STILL tacky. For some reason it just would not harden right. Did I not mix it right? - I thought I really measured everything accurately?! I really felt like just plain giving up ever using this stuff again. But last night I mixed up another batch and "painted" it over the old sticky surface. I let it sit overnight again (but this time upstairs where it is warmer) and I felt it this morning and it ISN'T tacky now! Yeah! I want to let it sit for a few more hours though before I move them much. Maybe I will finally have a product that is useable and pictures to show later.

The more I work with the shrinky art though the more I just plain want to paint right ON something. I REALLY want to get back into enameling again soon. Hopefully as soon as I get back from CA I will go full scale into the enameling again and get some interesting cabs to use this summer.

Last night I pounded words into 6 of my "stay open to all good things" copper discs and I do think I will have the time today to enamel them. What I plan to do with them is simple and easy (no cloisonné - just foil cutouts) so I think I can get them finished today or tomorrow. I just have a few phone calls to make today, maybe give the dog a bath, some banking to do and Dave and I will sign and send away our taxes. My list of chores I need to do before I leave IS getting done. Yeah!

Yesterday most of the whole sister circle group was together at Berdella's. I was so happy! We will go back to having an "art group" every Tuesday for the summer months again this year. I like that. I think I will get my mosaic things out and work on that while there. I have 4 ceramic face and hand sets to work with and feel I can complete the mosaics with them now.

AND - oh yes, my cousin George Harter from Kansas (who does tours of New York City and has a wonderful public radio show about Broadway Musicals, "A Night on the Town" - http://musicaltheaterheritage.com/) has invited me and my friends to get rooms at discounted prices with him and his tour group at the Algonquin Hotel in August. Five of us are going!!! Jan, Berdella, Nancy, Kenyon and I! I just hope and pray that the money will appear for this as the summer goes on. I really need to "open" myself to accessing my "right to livelihood".

That's all the news for now.
