39. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
I feel very unimaginative sometimes when answering these kinds of questions. I have always been happy with Mary. But the question says, "had to change", so maybe - Anna. If Dave and I had had a second girl we would have named her that. As it was, later when a female cat came into our lives who needed a name we called her Anniecat.

We go down to Pittsburgh to the big christmas party for Dave's family today. Trying to gear myself up for that. I don't usually enjoy any parties but this is one I feel like I have to (need to) go to. So I'm saying my affirmations whenever I start to get nervous:
I am willing to be a good listener.
I am willing to be present.
I am willing to eat at only regular mealtimes (so I don't start to overeat from nervousness).
I am willing to believe I am good enough.
I am willing to believe I belong.
There will be a lot of loud extroverts there - all I really need to do is be a smiling and interested listener. But one problem I have had in the past is that everything is so LOUD that I can't hear what anyone is saying - especially the one person I might be trying to listen to. So then I have to pretend I understand what they are saying or else say "what?" over and over again. All this pretending and straining to hear is very tiring. Maybe if I am truly interested I will say "let's go to a quiet corner" so I can hear them...
