Happiness. That is what I feel! Friday evening I fell asleep with a ball of orange fluff, Annabelle, purring in my face and a white ball of fluff, Jasper, snoozing behind my knees. Saturday morning, I woke up sharing the pillow with Annabelle and Jasper still snoozing in his same spot too.
Friday afternoon a woman came in to ask a few zoning questions. She works for the Williamston Vet. Later that same day she returned and I asked her where the Williamston Humane Society is located...in the Williamston Vet. I told her that I wanted to adopt a couple of kittens and her eyes got wide and she told me they had a set now that they really wanted to find a home for both of them together. In fact, just recently they had decided that if they could find a home for both of them together then they would lesson the adoption fee. I asked her what they looked like...I was so excited. I had planned to go the next morning to take a look at them. Les, happened to be online and so I pounced on her about the possibibity of adopting them. She told me they vet may stay open until 5:30. I told her I didn't think so, but soon after chatting with her I decided to call and find out. She was right! As soon as the clocked chimed 5, I flew out the door to go meet my new babies. I knew before I even saw them that I would love them and I figured they need me as much as I need them. Things just fell into place. God has been really kind to me this year. Friday was payday. I wanted to adopt TWO kittens so they could occupy each other why I am at work. Get a slight break on adoption fees. Get to adopt from the Humane Society. And the link to them waltzes into my office.
Anyway, I go inside to meet them. She hands me this tiny white and gray kitten named Socks and he immediately begins to purr. Then comes a fluffy orange and white cat named Annie and she immediately purrs too. There was defintely no leaving them, not even for one night. So, I adopted them and brought them to my apartment. They went crazy! They chased each other everywhere and just rolled around playing. I was laughing so hard at their clumsly little bodies. I think that is why when we all crawled into bed that night, we all slept soundly. They played hard. They didn't stop until I had gone to bed. I renamed Socks, Jasper...because he doesn't even have Socks and he is a crazy little guy like Jasper from the Gnomobile...which was a real disney movie that apparently I am the only person to have seen it. I kinda like Annie...because of the whole orphan thing I suppose...but I like full names, so I dubbed her Annabelle.
Annabelle loves to follow me around. She is too cute! I get a kick out of her sitting on top of the toliet lid starring up at me brushing my teeth or whatever. She is very curious too...heard they saying, "Curosity killed the cat." It totally applies to her. She has to inspect the broom, the vaccuum cleaner, the litter box scoop, every closet, every drawer, behind the fridge. I have to be really watchful of her because she will scoot in anything that has been opened for even half a second and one of these times she is going to get locked up. She is also very vocal. When I peer under the bed if she is there she immediately comes running out mewing at me. She also talks to me when I'm washing the dishes, kinda like why won't you pet me? She is also very cuddly. Likes to sleep on my pillow. First night right in my face, second two nights right above my head.
Jasper, is hyper. He is half Annabelle's size, but gosh does he have some mighty sharp claws and teeth. He usually provokes her. She'll be trying to catch a lazy snooze on my lap and he'll come out of no where attacking! I was afraid he wasn't going to let me properly spoil him, lol. He thought everything was a game. I'd extend a hand to pet him and he'd attack it or run from me. Well, Saturday I was watching something with Annabelle snoozing away on my neck. I had such a cramp I had to slide her off and since she was still dozing I went to find Jasper. He was sleeping in my bed and so I sat beside him and gently petted him. That night he came and sought me out on the futton and came right under my chin for a nap. I don't know what it is with these kittens and my neck.
It was funny Jil called me the other day and we talked about turning out to be spinsters. When I called her the next day to tell her I adopted two kittens she said, "You weren't suppose to take our talk to heart." Lol. Yesterday, I did feel like a spinster. With my two kittens snoozing on me and watching a made for TV movie called Open House, lol...but I was very happy and content. :)There are a million little things they have done over the past three days to bring a smile to my face and laughter to my heart. I'm so thankful they have adopted me.
