A Few of My Favorite Things

#1--BSG.  I never thought I'd be creating an online journal, but love of  BSG has driven me to it.  (For frak's sake, I don't even have an IM address, but now I have a live journal?!)   Reading A/R fanfictio has precipitated this ascent into madness, and I want to get more involved in this AWESOME community.  I don't know anyone, yet.   I tried to join "Survival Instinct," but am experiencing technical difficulties.  That doesn't bode so well for me here, does it?  I'll try not to be too low-tech and learn fast!

Favorite line from BSG (limiting myself to one here, folks): "We may have gone down separately, but we're going to come back together.  Hopefully on our feet.  But even in body bags, we're going to come back together."  A/R forever!

Recently, I've discovered Corinne Bailey Rae's song "Put Your Records On," and love it.  Let your hair down, indeed!  The lyrics are great, but it's her unique sound that really gets me.

I love animals, especially cats, though I don't own one because I can't afford the extra rent and the vet bills.

Favorite foods: chocolate and Thai curry.

I'm an avid fan of William Blake's poetry, even though it occasionally makes my head hurt to read it.  One of my favorite lines: "Why this little curtain of flesh on the bed of our desire?"  It's not a sad thing, really, that passions can outstrip our ability to realize them.  Where would we be, if we never stretched out on that endless bed of desire?

Love big cities!!!  Bright colors and smoothies around every corner of NYC and London.

However, I'm also proud to be a Mid-Westerner and to live in a small town where I can enjoy the woods nearby.  Short hikes preferred, though.  I'm not that buff.  :)

I grew up watching college basketball and still enjoy it.  I'm still a "true blue" UK wildcats fan.

I love bassoons!  I think the bassoon sounds a lot like the human voice, or the cello.  Go double-reeds.  Did you know that the bag pipe is part of the double-reed family?

My favorite musician is Dar Williams, and favorite song by her has to be "The Blessings" on the Mortal City album: "If you're gonna get your heart broke, you'd better do it just right / It's gotta be raining, and you gotta move your stuff that night."   Her songs about traveling also really appeal to me.  I haven't found a road song yet that doesn't appeal to me.  I used to do a lot of commuting, so I love music about traveling.
