This may have come up before, and will probably come up again, but I was really, really into "Babylon 5" in college. It was a big influence on my decision to do a strip with a big story arc and a set ending. I planned for it to last about as long as "Babylon 5," too. I tried to avoid adding a bunch of annoying-ass telepath characters at the end, though.

From the Narbonic Director's Cut re-run. SO TRUE. Go DIAF, Byron. PS: A very hot fire.

Picked up To Terra at Strange Adventures yesterday. It's totally late '70s Japanese space opera of the best (or worst) kind. All the guys look like girls and most of the girls look like girls. Panels randomly turn into star-studded vistas during otherwise ordinary conversations, and brave outlaws thwart a mysteriously oppressive government run by computers. It's also curiously addictive. And there's an anime remake starting this season.

I also bought the Astonishingly Large Bone. Haven't read it yet, but it is indeed hefty. I started getting Shazam: Monster Society of Evil a couple weeks back. Jeff Smith is some kind of mad scientist of comics. He's somehow managed to make Captain Marvel's talking tiger badass.

Right Stuf's recent Significant Discounts on Bandai lead to the purchase of Brain Powered. It remains to be seen whether or not it will live up to the mark set by King Gainer. I hear it lacks giant robot dance numbers and telepathic squirrels, but makes up for it with Drama. Whether this is good or bad remains to be seen.
