we were running in the woods free as the wind when the iron cage came down and we were left with nothing but soundless words. the sweat on your lips tranfers to my hips and i become aware that i cannot resist this. coughing up a lung as the innocent child is hung, i become comfortably numb to sound of silence and then find that ive come undone. shoved a smoking gun into my quiet hollow. choking on a dream in which birds no longer fly. where the porcelain masks crack for no reason at the masquerade for the new virgin queen. and just like the world, we keep spinning in circles. overlapping a path that is worn to the bone. yet we proceed without caution and plateau to a state of trepidation. and theres a harlequin juggler dressed all up in green. hes coming up from the waters edge whispering "i told you, i told you." laying in the sand watching the clouds fall form the sky and land in my eyes, i become blind and wonder about the distance behind us while inside this dream like state of mind.
im going to read this for the poetry slam
