I'm so glad the story had that affect on you. I've been writing it for over a month now, so I think any immediacy has been lost on me. But I did enjoy the last 2,000 words. Those came the quickest and were when I really got a sense of how emotionally and psychologically attached Neal had gotten to Peter. Even his conscience had surrendered, because how can a man that placid and that ingenious be bad?

Actually, I'd been sort of waffling on whether Neal would run away with Peter. I couldn't see Peter wanting to put him at risk of arrest for aiding and abetting, so I figured they'd have a very quite, very global romance in which Peter whisked him away to stroll on the Champs-Élysées or to, I don't know, attend a football game in Tampa. Someday, Neal would definitely have to make a choice, but I didn't think it would be this day. As for Peter's Game? His game is just that he wants what he wants and he has a rather straightforward way of getting: he either asks or he takes.

Once again, I'm so glad you've enjoyed this story and had such a visceral reaction do it. Does a writer good, ya know?
