Queer as Folk, Post-modernism and reflexivity

Queer as Folk, in the 3rd season, mirrors america and mirrors itself.  The creation of comic, that reflects QaF'verse, is perhaps a metaphor for how qaf aims to represent american society as a whole.  PSA on voting, safe sex, gender identity, the evils of the right wing are abundent.  It begs the question, how effective are tv shows aimed at ''minorities' for political mobilisation.  As from the fact, that it was predicted most of the viewers were women.  And that a vocal part of the gay community rallied against qaf for reinforcing stereotypes and gay men and women.

How important are media outlets for enabling social critisism, in a more accessible format, than say, the Guardian comment page?  The presentation of an essentialsed gay identity was also combined with a politicised identity.  Activism and agency displyed by Justin.  Debbies ground level, inadvertant activism.
