Last night I got a call from a client telling me I got the consultancy job I was gunning for, so yay. Now I'm on their retainer, which means I get a small amount of money every month regardless of whether I work on something with them or not. That's on top of the money I do get when I do work on stuff for them. So, fun.

Now I can concentrate on the important stuff, comics. The goal is to achieve two things: to be able to produce more comics, and to be able to challenge myself again and improve the quality of my art. The latter, especially, is of paramount concern, since for the past couple of years I feel my art has stagnated, and is really little more than just functional.

My work slate:

Bakemono High (Ongoing)
Manster Komiks (October)
Efren Sapalaran (October)
Cast 11 and 12 (November)
Project: Hero Special (November)
Hate and Other Love Stories (December)

I'm also pitching a couple of projects that I hope gets approved, but if it isn't then at least I can move up my timetable. New on my list is Hate and Other Love Stories, an old project that I started but didn't finish for various reasons, which I'm now retooling into a collection of comics stories and other writings on love and heartbreak. I might actually look for a publisher for this one, so this is me crossing my fingers, bracing for the worst (the stress! the stress!) and hoping for the best.
