What Time Is It?
Well, at the time I'm writing this, it's 9:24am. Also known at 25 minutes into my first class... which I also skipped on Tuesday... and the class is with my academic adviser...
I accidentally some stuff this week. I did most of my easy due-the-next-day homework and left a larger, more complicated assignment for The Phons until the day before it was due. Figuring I was fairly screwed, I decided to compromise sleep to finish it (or at least get lot of it done so I could would on it during lunch today or something).
Theory: go to Half Price because I'm hungry, come back, wash my hair, go to bed at 1:30am because I don't think I can accomplish good work when I'm sleepy today, wake up at 6:30am, work until 8:30am, dress/eat/go to class, continue about my day working on the assignment as I see fit.
Practice: (the first four are the same), wake up at 9:15am, blink because I'm confused, look at the clock again, determine that my alarm is indeed on, realize that I set my alarm for 6:30pm not am, facepalm, sleep for another 10 minutes because it's too late now, slink out of bed, write a blog entry.
Now I'm kind of thinking this whole day is shot to hell and I'm thinking I'm just going to work on this assignment (after I blog because I'll be pissed all day if I don't write shit down) until it's done, missing classes if I must. It's not that missing the classes is particularly detrimental: we're allowed to not be there sometimes, the professors know we need sleep and time to work and stuff. And we're not doing anything horribly more-important than usual. But... remembering my first semester here... I'm pretty afraid to skip classes. :(
Fridge Experiment
I have a little fridge up in my room and me and my 9 suitemates have a full-sized fridge in our special interest housing kitchen. Last week, I went grocery shopping on Wednesday and bought milk and strawberries. I put the milk in the suite fridge but I kept the strawberries upstairs with me. Well, Sunday rolls around and I decide I want some cereal with strawberries... but both my strawberries and milk have gone bad! (Before they're expiration dates!)
So, here's my experiment. Buy two little things of milk and put one in each fridge. I will use them equally and see which goes bad first.
Problems with this experiment...
-I was dumb and didn't look at the expiration dates; one milk should go bad two days before the other
-I might use up all the milk before it goes bad (which I doubt)
-It could all go bad before I use any of it! Hmm. I should eat cereal and make mac and cheese today...
Russia
I'm applying to a Russian summer institute! The government has this Critical Language Scholarship thing that sends students studying languages like Russian/Arabic/Chinese &c to those countries to learn more about the language/culture to help with international relations.
Relatedly, my summer job-searching has sort of come to a stop. I should probably continue to think of back-up plans for the summer...
I'M GOING TO GO WORK ON THE PHONS HW NOW. x_x
