The biggest geek ever...

Okay this is potentially the stupidest connection I have ever made between socialist and capitalist ideas. I was reading on Wikipedia about something called DKP. DKP is a system for dividing 'loot' in MMORPG's (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) and is apparently pretty common. Well... read this:

Casual players, who can only invest a small proportion of their time playing, are necessarily penalized by DKP systems (as they earn less DKP than players who invest more time). Such players often argue against DKP systems, which they feel overly penalize them for playing less often. They therefore demand more equality in outcome. "Hard-core" players (those who spend long hours every night) argue strongly for DKP systems, on the grounds that their greater experience, dedication and organization should be properly rewarded. They therefore demand justice in outcome.

Of course anyone who has ever taken an economics class may already be aware of the relationship between equality/parity and justice but that one stupid paragraph for some reason seemed to make the idea pop for me. What is so crazy, and made me laugh at myself, is the fact that I got this little bit of inspiration while reading about game on Wikipedia. That has to be without a doubt one of the geekiest things I've ever done... hahaha
