so my great grandma's funeral was today. i wasn't very sad when i heard that she died, cuz i only saw her a few times and her memory was going bad so she didnt even have a clue who i was. but the funeral still made me very sad, because it's a part of my family, and a part of my heritage, and all the memories and stories that she had will die with her, cuz i never got to hear them. It's a very sad thing. but i'm not looking for pity or anything, so don't feel sorry for me. I'm just sorry that I never really got to know her.
I know funerals are odd things, and they're usually pretty fake, cuz there's like an official taboo against saying anything remotely bad about a dead person. But hearing all the nice things that people had to say about her made me believe that it would have been nice to know her.
