i'm so smart...

alrighty so here's the deal... i made this thing about a month ago and then forgot about it. yeahh, i am so good like that :P but i thought i would start using it again. just gives me one more thing to do to waste time, which i am already really good at.

alright, so a month has passed since i last typed something. obviously i can't account for everything that has happened, but i'll try to hit on a few things here and there. leaving off where i did last time: so i went and saw M.B. in concert and got to meet her afterwards... had to buy another copy of Hotel Paper in order to do so, which i got signed by her and her band. i got to give her a copy of my demo cd.. yay :) that was the only reason i wanted to do the whole meet & greet thing. i'm not quite the type to wait and line and then just say "oh my god, you're my idol! you're so great!!" *rolls eyes* i think not. anyway, so yeah that was fun. thanks to Scott who went with me and who waited outside in the truck while i had to stand in line to meet her afterwards. i felt bad about that :( ah well

ok, what else... i got to write incidental music for LVC's production of The Mousetrap, which was fun. it was neat to see the show and hear my own music playing in the background, even though it was kind of quiet. neat nonetheless though :)

*looks around room for ideas to write updates about*

i got a job playing piano/guitar/singing at the Allen (local movie theater, for those who may not know... also, there is an adjoining coffeehouse called MJs). anyway, i obviously can't play both instruments and sing at once (duh :P) but here's the deal... usually i go into the theater a half hour before the movie starts and play music in there. when Under the Tuscan Sun was still playing (realllly good movie, btw!!), Skip (the guy who runs the theater) had me playing piano, since that movie catered to an older audience who would enjoy classical piano more. however, now that the Matrix is there, i'm gonna play guitar/sing, since that movie is obviously geared toward a younger audience. i only play for tips, but still, its better than nothing i suppose :)

speaking of the Allen/MJs... Lisette and i went and saw Under the Tuscan Sun a few weekends ago (that was my 2nd time seeing it :P) and then stuck around afterwards to check out this guy who was playing guitar/singing in the coffeehouse... his name was Jeff Clark and he was really good. i thoroughly enjoyed his performance :) he reminded me of a combination of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz... yay. he gave out free cds and i picked one up. i've listened to it a bunch of times since then... good stuff. check out his site if you feel like it: http://www.jeffclarkmusic.com

last night Lisette, Krissy, Kristen, and I went out to dinner and then went to see Elf... good times :) gotta love Will Ferrell playing a supposed little kid. i enjoyed the movie a lot.. though the only drawback was that when it was over, i wanted it to be Christmastime already. the movie definitely puts you in the Xmas spirit. i would recommend it to anyone who needs a good 2 hours or so of laughter

earlier today was the orchestra concert. i played in 2 out of 3 pieces. the piece i didn't play in was Liszt's 1st Piano Concerto. Dr. Savage, one of the new faculty members played the solo part, and holy @#$%^&* was he good. i stayed after i was finished at rehearsal yesterday just to get a preview of the piece, and i was totally blown away. i actually had tears in my eyes at the end, but thats probably cause i was an emotional mess that morning.. i'm not even sure why. i had to get up early for dress rehearsal, which put me in a not-so-good mood to begin with, and plus i had a really sore throat and felt kinda sick (feeling a bit better today since i ODed on sleep last night... always a good thing :P). so yeah it was one of those times when youre feeling about 9876543210 emotions all at once and they all kind of clash together and get mixed up.. i dont know how else to describe it *shrug* but anyway, he was totally and completely amazing. i'd heard that piece before, when the Philly Orchestra did it. but wow, to have an LVC faculty member play that piece.. whew. Liszt, during his time, was the equivalent of today's most famous rockstar, whoever that'd be. he was really well known and everyone loved him.. people would throw stuff at the stage cause he was so great, and he wrote some of the hardest piano music ever. some clips for your listening pleasure (in RealPlayer format):

listen to those!! :)

so yeahhh, i guess in a very roundabout way, that kind of brings you (whoever may read this, if anyone) up to date. i promise i will continue to put stuff in here that will hopefully be more interesting than the drivel i just typed. on a random note, i can't find a layout for this thing that i really like, text/colors/graphics-wise. oh well, i'll have to try to make it not bother me (did that make sense?)
