Margie Palatini

today, acclaimed children's author Margie Palatini visisted the school where i work to give 4 assemblies for the different grades. she read each group one of her books and answered questions about being an author. she proved to be *quite* the entertaining reader - so much so that after the first group i sat in on, i felt compelled to run out to my car & grab my mp3 player so i could try to record the next session. i haven't listened to it yet to see how it turned out. but wow, the kids had all their attention focused on her. she was incredibly engaging and funny, and did some of the best voices.

i happened to have my camera out in my car, so i volunteered to take some shots. Mrs. Sellen, the librarian, said that as long as the photos are in jpeg format (they are), she can send them in to the Gloucester County Times, which is apparently doing an article on the visit. so who knows, maybe i'll have a photo i took in the paper. its only the local paper & not a huge deal, but it'd be kinda cool i guess.

anyways here are a couple shots i took. i really wish i'd known in advance to bring my telephoto lens. i could've gotten some really close-up, much more detailed shots. oh well.

kids being an attentive audience
