Paris, Je T'Aime
has anyone seen Paris, Je T'Aime? prior to last night, i knew nothing about it except that it had an absolutely lovely soundtrack, and that it was about Paris, so i figured it'd be perfect. Cory added it to his Blockbuster queue and it arrived a couple days ago. we watched it last night. i learned earlier yesterday that instead of the standard film format, the movie consisted of 18 short little 5ish minute vignettes, each done by different actors/directors and taking place in different parts of the city.
i'm not sure i can exactly pin down what i was expecting, but i can definitely say it was a little bit different from what i expected. i read before in some of the reviews that a couple of the scenes were supposed to be a little different/out-there, so i went into it expecting that. we both agreed that well, maybe more than a few fit that category. but we're open-minded so we watched our way through it. there were some humorous moments and some... strange ones (i.e. Elijah Woods walking alone at night and finding a trail of blood and encountering a vampire. i think they ended up being vampire lovers in the end or something (i covered my eyes for most of it :P), though i don't think he talked the whole time).
anyway! the final section was so poignant. i figured it was just me that found it kinda emotional due to.. well... umm... a situational raised level of female hormones. ugh. anyway at the end we were both a little teary-eyed (ok so maybe a bit more than a little) and ended up laying under a blanket on the bed and talking for awhile about things... haha (guess that sounds kinda emo but it wasnt, really).
i went on YouTube and found a video of that final sequence of the movie. check it out and let me know how you feel about it. the volume level is a little low so you may wanna raise the level on your speakers accordingly. (this was the only version i could find that had just English subtitles & not another language too, which is distracting).
