i have just read Maurice, by EM Forster.
It's such a great book^^ i loved it.. it's beautifully written, even if a little bit short. But the subject was quite unconventionnal ( Homosexuality in the early XXth century...
I've been fascinated by Clive first, and then by Maurice.
At first Maurice looks like a nice fella from the upper middle class wheras Clive is the clever guy from the upper class, the one that had read books and everything. But then, gradually things changed and we come to discover his real personnality... he is quite narrow minded compared to Maurice.
But I don't hate him though... I trully believe in his changing. He stops loving Maurice and it's very hard to understand it because their love wasn't physical but purely intellectual. But he doesn't became a real Heterosexual either, his past is still present. He didn't like sexuality in old Greece, but he was fascinated by the teacher and pupill relationship of the great philosophers... He doesn't think that women could be clever. He has read too much books...:)
