i received this in my loyola mail:
Hear a student from Loyola and two New Orleans members of
the Jesuit Volunteer Corps share their experience working
with migrant workers in Immokalee, Florida and explain why
they are boycotting Taco Bell.
Field Workers in Immokalee, Florida get paid 45 cents for
every 32-pound bucket of tomatoes they pick.
Taco Bell is owned by YUM! Foods, the largest purchaser of
tomatoes in Florida.
Taco Bell has been asked to demand an increase in the wages
of field workers by 1 penny more per pound of tomatoes
picked.
This would raise the price of a chalupa 1/4 of a penny.
The CEO has claimed that the complaints of field workers are
unfounded and their wages are just.
Field workers recieve no pension, over-time pay, health
benefits, insurance, or even the opportunity to form unions.
They work under harsh conditions for unfair wages and under
circumstances in which there is no opportunity for
promotion.
Boycott Taco Bell until they pay fair wages for the field
workers.
yikes....i just thought that was totally random....anywho....that really sucks...
