So, ok. Someone said to me that I ought to do, like, posts about Colorado, since I live here and all, and I'm currently sick and stuck in bed and useless, so
Ah. So two and 1/2 years ago I moved from Boulder. And I immediately hated it. Like, clinical depression, on drugs because I'm suicidal hated it. Now I live in Fort Collins, which I love, and everything's hunky dory and blah blah blah. Ok, so Boulder.
The thing is, when I watched South Park before I moved to Boulder, I didn't understand why Matt and Trey hate hippies so much. And then I went to the University or Colorado for a year. And oh man, within the first week I hated hippies, and pretty much anyone else who went to CU.
Oh, and BIG NOTE TO ANY AND ALL SOUTH PARK FANFICTION WRITERS. The University of Colorado is always abbreviated "CU" not "UC". Don't ask me why, but it is. So stop writing UC, please; UC is in California.
Anyway, So Boulder is full of these know-it-all hippies who eat granola out of bags (like in Die, Hippie, Die) and everyone drives a Prius and is smug as shit about it (like in Smug Alert), and they're all these, like, really, really fake, pretentious environmentalists. Like they lecture you about composting and shit, but none of them actually know a damn thing about the environment.
For example, I'm now in natural resources (I'm a Wildlife Biology major) and I'm certified in Wildland Fire. But when there's wildfires in the Boulder area, everyone whines and cries about how sad forest fires are, despite the fact that they're actually crucial to the ecosystem around here.
So it's like, they mean well, but they have no fucking clue what they're talking about. And they're the kind of people who would rather "raise awareness" than actually do something about a problem. No good.
Um, but, so you probably know this, but Matt and Trey went to CU, and oddly enough are the pride and joy of the school, despite the fact that it's turned out Nobel Prize winners and famous astrophysicists and stuff. Trey didn't even graduate from there, and the rumor on campus is that the CU alumni association asked them for a big donation, and they pretty much said fuck off. Which is awesome, if it's true.
One of the few things I like about CU is the obsession with Alferd Packer. As you probably know, the boys made Cannibal! The Musical when they were CU students. It'd be hard to miss the inspiration there, since the cafeteria on campus is called the Alferd Packer Grill. Oh yeah. They even have a little bust of Packer next to it. See?
Me and my buddy, Alferd.
Anyway. Um. That's probably all I have to say about Boulderp. I could keep ranting about how much I hate it there, but that probably doesn't help anyone.
But you know, if anyone ever has questions about CU or anything (especially about the library on campus - I worked there for about 2 years) feel free to ask. I'm all about accuracy, so I'd be happy to help.
