Holy geeze... Words almost fail me here. A little family tragedy has me on the run, literally. But the happy upshot is, well, I'm just in awe of how incredible life is and how lucky we all are that things aren't worse.
My brother's house burnt down. Not much of a house, a wood frame with canvas walls, and not his, just rented. In the woods in the interior of British Columbia. His little, one-room house with no electricity and a wood-burning stove and a party line.
He got out alright, but went back in looking for his little dog. Second-degree burns on his hands and feet and a third-degree spot on his back that might need a skin-graft. It was especially tragic when it looked like the little dog hadn't made it out, but she was found hours later by some neighbours.
He's in the ICU at the nearest real hospital, although they might yet transfer him to the next hospital up in fanciness and burn treatment. I'm on my way up there now, and my mum's en route as well. So I haven't seen him yet, but it's not nearly as awful as it could have been. Of course, he lost everything. But things are just things. He's alive, and so is his dog. And I'm feeling pretty thankful for that right now.
Now go hug somebody and tell them you love them. ::hugs and loves on you all::
