I'm reading this big book of stories by H.G. Welles, its quite interesting especially when you take into account when it was all written. For example I read a story today about tank warfare written in 1903. The realisation that got to me though was the fact the the titualar device in "the time machine" is analog. Most time machines you pick a time and then ... bamf... you're there, Mr Welles' machine has two switches one which moves you forward through time very quickly and one that moves you backwards very quickly. So In other words fast forward and rewind along a single path where you have to travel through all the points along the way to get to your goal. It's VHS in comparison to Doc Browns DVD player.
