Grrr.

I hate the commercials that Kelly Ripa is in for Electrolux washers and dryers. The idea is that with these ~super effective~ machines she'll have so much time to do more things and be amazing, right? So you'd think that they would show her going out for lunch with friends, maybe, or even playing soccer with her kids, or in a business suit, or something. But no. Evidently with all that spare time, she decides to do even more domestic stuff, like baking cookies and folding laundry and looking after the kids!

Gah. Complete fail, commercial writers. You just piss me off.

Aside from that, I just watched

This was a surprisingly good movie, considering that evidently it didn't get very good reviews...? Perhaps not so much for a single acting performance, but for the over-all message and meaning of the movie, and the story-telling that came together at the end of the film. Parts of it made me uncomfortable, which I had expected - especially with the focus on the boys being trained to be suicide bombers, and the vicious circle that can result between terrorism and torture. The torture scenes made me wince - especially considering that I believe someone here on LJ did an experiment with water torture, and basically bluntly said that even knowing what he was doing to himself, he felt as though he was going to die.

The ending does seem a bit too convenient, but at the same time, the movie is based on a true story. I'd recommend this, though I will say that it's not light viewing.
