My New Year's resolution:
To be a better, happy person.
Namely,
[] To be more compassionate towards others.
[] To be more understanding towards myself.
[] To make time for things that make me happy, even if it seems there isn't time.
[] To write more, because expressing myself invigorates me.
[] To not apologize for who I am.
[] To adopt a happy state of mind.
These seem like a lot of things, but I taking them one tiny step at a time.
In a similar vein, I found a prayer offered up by the Dalai Lama that I think is quite beautiful:
"Everyday, think as you wake up, ‘Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can.'"
I might make it into a poster and put it on my wall.
