I'm Pagan. I don't believe that any one religious or spiritual tradition is the Truth, but more that humans created Gods and Goddesses as a way to connect to and understand a Divine that is too vast to be understood. Aphrodite is a facet of the Divine. Yaweh is a facet of the Divine. Kwan Yin, Oshun, Odin, etc. All facets of a big 'ol Divine disco ball in the sky that's too big for us to grasp so we splinter it out into personalities that we can name and claim. In that way, I follow no dogma, nor do I interpret any scriptures or legends literally.
However, I do use those facets/archetypes/gods/etc to focus specific energies I want to work with. If I'm working with love, Aphrodite is appropriate, and the like. It's a responsibility to be a buffet Pagan, though, because in modern Paganism (especially in Neo-Wicca), things are oversimplified and taken out of an appropriate cultural context. It's important to respect the culture that produced a certain deity, and as I tend to know the most about the Norse and Greek/Roman pantheons, these are the energies I work with most often. I feel a strong pull towards Hecate, in particular.

Is that what you were asking?
