oops (school version)

today I had an all day HR class. When I got there some others were discussing our online HR class. They were talking about the final and having turned it in. Hoping it would be graded soon. So I ask, oh yeah when is that due again, Tuesday right? The look of horror on their faces as they realized what I hadn't was my first clue. It was due yesterday at midnight.

Ack! Panicked I ask, no really? no. no! shoot! really? yeah.......

Enter the teacher. Who happens to be the online teacher as well. Now everyone wants to know if I did indeed just fail that class. The teacher double checks and verifies that I did in fact miss the deadline. She asks "how could you do that?" I look dumbstruck as the girl behind me answers "she's just really busy all the time!"

then my soliloqy
*big sigh* Guess you'll see me next year. *shrug* I can't believe I did that. So stupid. You know what it was? We didn't get a reminder. (she interjects that she was traveling *she flies in from Hawaii for two weeks to teach this one class*). *I nod* Oh, yeah I know. I should have remembered. I'm just saying that I didn't set up a reminder and didn't even think about it. The whole thing just slipped my mind. It's cool I'll just take it next year.

So she gets things together to start the class, asks for the homework and such. as the class is getting their homework gathered to turn in my classmate next to me asks, "is it finished? Do you think you could finish it and turn it in during lunch? Maybe she'd let you!" I replied "no, there is no way It's nowhere near finished. Don't worry, it's okay."

Apparently between my acceptance of the fact I failed that class, and the fact that I helped a fellow student understand the homework (spending a frustrating hour with him after class, that saved her from having to do it) she took pity on me. She leans over the table and says "come see me at the break". I'm thinking, ummm ok....... My classmate is looking at me like their is hope in the world.

Sure enough I got an extension. I didn't even ask for one! I said I could do it within 24 hours, she said to give myself some time and Tuesday Midnight would be fine. also, I am not to tell anyone in my classes she did this as she has a severely strict "no extensions" policy. which is why I didn't ask in the first place.

So..... long story short...... today I was rewarded for my good deed, and my stoicism. Yes Virginia, their is a Santa Clause.
