My boss and her son treated me to lunch today for my birthday. I think it has become tradition for me to have sushi. She had never been to Sushi Yoshi on Spalding (which is now called something different), so we went there. It was really good! I am now so full I don't want to stay awake. We had softshell crab roll, spicy tuna roll, caterpillar roll, and crazy roll, as well as salad and miso soup. Now I'm sucking down diet coke in an attempt to stay awake. Full tummy and no real work makes for a slow, sleepy afternoon.
Of course, I have lots of things that I could be doing at home. I've been in a cleaning frenzy lately. The bottom half of the house is almost complete. Monday night I washed dishes and scrubbed the counters and kitchen table. Tuesday night I switched out from the old cat litter box to the new electronic one (more on that in a minute) and scrubbed the downstairs bath and the upstairs hall bath. Last night I was supposed to vacuum all the floors. However, thanks to USAir completely screwing up Art's flights, we didn't get home till 11pm. I had time to clean off the end tables and my desk before collapsing into bed. So tonight I get to vacuum all the floors and furniture and clean the hardwoods. Busy busy evening. I didn't want to do the floors until I was completely done with all the other cleaning. You know more things would end up on the floor, and I refuse to do the same job twice.
The new electronic cat box is wonderful! It's just the $90 version sold at Wal-mart. It came with 12 catch trays and the carpet to go under the box. The carpet is really nice. Boris tends to jump out of the box and scatter litter around it. The carpet catches most of it so all I have to do is vacuum it up. The other nice thing about it is it has tall sides and a wide front. The old cat box was a corner unit with a lid, but the opening was just the typical hole. Rocky likes to be JUST BARELY inside the cat box to pee. In the old box, this meant that the worst spot and the hardest to clean would be right under the opening. And once that spot was wet (meaning he pee'd once), he move back a little. Which means he would pee on the plastic mat we had in front of the opening to catch the litter they tracked out. With the new box, he has to be fully inside it to be able to pee. Also, since the rake activates to scoop out the clump 10 minutes after the cat leaves the box, there is never a "wet" spot for Rocky to avoid. YAY!!! So far it seems to be working. All I have to do to empty it is push the lid down on the catch tray, remove the catch tray, and put a new one in its place. I didn't even have to change the type of litter the cats like since it was already a premium clumping litter.
Think my boss might let me go early since tomorrow is my birthday? Yeah, I didn't think so either. Back to filing and trying not to fall asleep.
