SO it's been a long time since I posted on LJ. Oops? I guess anything I ever felt like saying I just posted on FB because well, I don't really feel like I have too much to say all at once. EH!
It's been snowing A LOT up in the B-hizzle. It just finished hailing, and my backyard looks like it's covered in Dippin' Dots. We're supposed to get over a foot of snow in 2 days. I most often dislike snow. Ever since I started driving and had to get to work, snow has been on my shit list. HOWEVER- I did get snowed in at a friend's house Sunday evening and we went sledding down Alabama hill. That was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. That road is terrifyingly steep and it is on quite a large hill, but after fresh snow it is just way too fun. So glad my friends and I got to experience it before the snow plows took to it. :) I was able to remember what having FUN in the snow was like. I figure I have also disliked snow for a long time because I've never had the right gear. Thanks to my boyeefriend though, I own a sweet pair of snow pants and a down snow jacket (all bought at Value Village for $18 total- NOT TOO SHABBY EH?!). We went snow shoeing last month at Mt. Baker. That was pretty neat!
I guess I should be thankful that snow isn't a 3-4 month long ordeal like it is in other parts of the country. Perspective!
Received another rejection letter for a job, this time in the Lake Washington SD for an elementary music gig. But that's okay... I expected it. **sigh** I'm STILL waiting to be called back for an interview in Forks (of all places). They've rescheduled on me twice now, and I have been waiting for a reply for almost a week. This is ridiculous. I understand that there are probably some politics surrounding the position, that's always a given in schools. However, those children have been going almost a month without a music teacher. Not only is it not fair to those of us who WANT to teach and need a job, but it's 100x less fair to those children who are going to music class and are most likely not learning any music.
The boyeefriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary the weekend before last. :) We went to Vancouver, BC and stayed on Granville. Too bad I lost my keys at the Vancouver Aquarium and that ruined a good chunk of our anniversary. So much stress and plans going awry. I am thankful that my boyee is so patient and happy-go-lucky that he helped me feel better about the whole thing. Sunday was spend walking around downtown Vancouver and checking out what the town had to offer. We had lunch at the Yaletown Brewery and watched the first half of the Broncos v Steelers game. We were the only people watching (and cheering during) the game. Ohhhh Canadians. :)
... I kinda want to go out in the snow, but I don't want to go out alone. I kinda miss living near campus- there's always someone I know close by to hang out with. I don't know if it's safe to drive anywhere (in my car).
My LJ account expired. I miss the use of my icons. BUT it's not worth it right now... I just spent over $200 to register for the WMEA All-State conference. *sigh* Being a guest teacher (that's what they call substitute teachers now- it sounds much better, IMO) isn't paying as much as I would like, even if I work almost every day. But hey, I teach 7th grade band and elementary music all next week. It pays to get in good with other music teachers. :)
Here's hoping 2012 is awesome... I made no resolutions. Didn't really think about it. Oops~!
