Anthrocon kinda sucks

Jun 30, 2010 00:46

This is about the con itself and the silhouettes of it that I saw; I don't mean to imply that my experience was bad, just that the con as an entity is... bad.

I present some events, and some thoughts.

Ahha, the list of panels made me lol hard. But man, looks like that con management really sucked hard. =/ A part of me is disappointed, a larger part of me is not surprised.

And "2. The fandom encourages mediocrity." is far too true. :( I've been thinking about it for a long time, but wasn't able to word it as well as you did. (You are an excellent writer, btw)

I keep saying this: If you want to go to a con for the *con*, forget furry cons. They're worthless. Go to anime cons instead.

I'd be curious to talk with some of this about you since I'm a) staff for another con, b) didn't go myself and c) you're the first person I've seen with strong but well thought out critisms. Shall poke you IM when you're not busy. o.o

Tl;dr furry cons are for people to meet up and have {ano, pseudo}nymous sex under the influence of drugs.

Glad to see somebody else gets it. So much of this exact same criticism applies to furry stuff in general: people listen to shitty comedians, commission shitty artists, visit shitty web sites, and attend shitty conventions just because they're all at least vaguely associated with dog dicks.

Yeah I was kinda trying to make that point. Throughout this post all I could think of was FA. Bad site, incompetent staff, mediocre art that everyone celebrates because there's not much better.
