I'm in Memphis, going back to New Orleans this week. Four and a half months is too long to travel. At the same time, I've just reached a state I remember from years ago, of no more anxiety about where I am, what I'm doing, who I'm hanging out with, or whether I look alright. I really want to get into Hobsbawn! I was going to start with the early capitalism to now book.. have you read that yet?

Nope! I thought he had written The Worldly Philosophers, which I love, but that was Heilbroner. The only thing I've read by Hobsbawm is Bandits, which was interesting but I didn't think the main argument was totally convincing.

Man, you know who I really want to get into? Braudel! But I'll look at the rest of the books in Hobsbawm's series if I like The Age of Revolution.I've just been meaning for so long to learn more about the 19th century.

Hm, hadn't seen this Braudel guy.

I bought a really cool edition of Antwerp by Roberto Bolano yesterday (used, also bought The Romantic Dogs). Totally unrelated but eh! I can't stop buying books. What a curse!
