Many props to those who are
fighting the
fight.
Now gimme some protest songs to sing. New ones. Besides the Beasties.
Jill Sobule, Indigo Girls, 311, Eminem, Goldfinger- I know you have it in you. Gimme some songs! I'd compose 'em myself except I'm not good at that.
I guess I have to go back to the Vietnam protest songs. And maybe some of the Civil War ones.
(Otto just called! He lives! Yay yay yay yaaaaaaaaaaaay! When can I see you, stranger?)
Last night I had the strangest dream . . .
Oh, yeah. My Weekend Without War came to an abrupt end this morning. I overheard one of the Republican Cow Orkers saying, ". . . and those protest groups spend so much money on the protests! They could be doing something better with that . . ."
"You mean, kind of like the billions our government is wasting every day on this garbage? They could be doing something better with it too . . . like fixing this economy, for instance!"
The mumblings of the Republican Cow Orkers continued (I think in the "support our troops" vein), but I walked briskly back to my desk and clamped my headphones securely on my head. Mr. Nick Hexum is singing some relaxation therapy to me as I type. I'd love to throw off the kid gloves and have a real argument with a pro-war person about this. But not at work. I have two weeks left, and I will not leave them with a sigh of relief. I will not make the Cow Orkers glare at me every time I pass their desks. I will mute myself, and get my sublimated frustration out by means of some rassling with Otto, ASAP.
Anybody have suggestions of good antiwar songs? I'm not as well-versed in the Vietnam-era protest songs as I should be.
