I've been spending today running back and forth, pawing through half-unpacked boxes, trying on half my closet, trying to decide if I should bring wire or pipecleaners or both . . .
Can you tell I'm excited? I'm not leaving for the FFF until tomorrow morning! Speaking of which, I should see if Dad can drop me downtown. Otherwise I'll bus it. Yay, walking onto a bus and THEN a train and THEN a subway possibly wearing purple and blue wings.
Oddly, though, there won't be many friends at the FFF this year. Even the ones who go every year are heading to NYC or staying home or going elsewhere. That's OK: hopefully I'll see
tikvah and her new SO, and
missasuemay.
marfta is so awesome for letting me crash at her place. Hopefully she'll have time for a quick Scrabble game before she heads off to the Cape. Or on Sunday evening, when I'm sure I'll be so tired I'll compose difficult words like "door" and "open". I might see The Posts, too. That'll be cool.
I've been to the FFF before, but always as a casual visitor: I go, I spend hours and hours looking at all the cool shit, maybe I attend one or two workshops, and then I go home. This year, I'm volunteering: I'll be right in the thick of it. With a free T-shirt and everything! Very exciting. Oh, right, money. Hmm. Put that on my list.
And Arisia in January! I think I'll have enough money to get a room of my very own. Ezra and a few others have made noises about coming along, but nobody's been particularly . . . definite about it. S'OK. I'm going to one fun con alone, I don't mind making it two in a row. Besides, there'll be a
brynndragon at Arisia, and she'll be all all all better, long before then.
There, I wrote it in my LJ, therefore it must be true.
Is the wire dragon-thing costume going to be too much of a hassle on public transit? Maybe I should save that for Arisia. Definitely, it's something
postvixen should see. Arak is a character that would probably belong on Puzzlebox. Maybe. I don't know. Anytime I hear about Puzzlebox, they're talking in a language I don't know. It has something to do with futuristic robot stuff, but that's about as much as I can grasp.
Hmmmm . . . maybe I should buy a Worldtree book and run a Worldtree module at Arisia, in addition to the Harry Potter one that I'm planning. I definitely grok Worldtree, more or less.
sythyry makes a lot more sense to me than
radiofreecatgrl.
Speaking of which, maybe I'll catch up on my
sythyry, while I'm waiting for these minutes to hurry up and pass.
