Title: Forever
Character: SNSD members, Taeyeon's POV
Genre: Friendship
Words: 950
Notes: I made this on a whim last night. I was going to bed, listening to SNSD's "Forever" and was just moved(?). I was also inspired by lunathunderhead's fic, robin's eggs. I know that KPOP bands will disband sooner or later but I guess, what would make my heart break is seeing those 9 girls we all know and love, go on their separate ways. In my heart, SNSD is forever. (Yes, I sort of teared up while typing the story furiously on my phone at two in the morning.)

______________

Taeyeon remembers their first debut stage and how anxious everyone was, hoping to not make mistakes, the fruit of working and practicing hard they did a year prior to that date had gone all to waste because they all felt fickle. Looking at everyone’s faces, she reminded herself the promise she made on the bridge the night before moving to her new home and gaining energy from that, stood up and gathered the younger girls in a circle and smiled.

“We can do this. Right now, it’s Girls’ Generation.” She muttered and one by one, they had eased; successfully delivering a wonderful performance on their very first stage.

That was also the first time she stood up as a leader. Truth to be told, she didn’t feel fitting for the title leader. It was a heavy burden, to carry all eight girls on her back, and she wasn’t even qualified. For all she knows, Jessica was perfect for the role; strong, quiet and controlled and who has withstand so many hate and antis before debut. Alas though, she didn’t regret being the leader now for it was rewarding in so many ways.

Skip for a few years came the most life-changing era ever. Gee was released and, although none really thought, became a nation’s sensation. The next thing they knew, SNSD was everywhere. Commercials, dramas, musicals, concerts. They are the nation’s best girl group. However, with the rise of popularity came its downside; jam-packed schedules, which lasts until late midnight, sleeping less and working more. It almost seemed (as Taeyeon once thought) that her whole life was planned ahead and was part of someone’s rituals. Of course, she regrets nothing. Every work is deserving and worthwhile.

The fights amongst the members grew as well, may it be because of lack of sleep or the new proper diet plan or just plain PMS, it happens. Taeyeon repeats to everyone why they were there and what was important and they all manage to keep intact of the circle. No one breaking or wavering.

But nothing on this world was permanent and sooner or later the inevitable end will come, whether people like it or not. SNSD was on their thirties and though their beauty remained the same, their friendship was different.
It’s hard you know, to bid goodbye to people you’ve been with for so many years, practically your family. They all knew it would come, nonetheless, no one believed it.

Taeyeon’s eyes travel down the lamp post to the busy streets she was so familiar with and she heaves a sigh of distress. It was painful enough to think about leaving their dorm, how it would be like to be living on her own. She feels so cold and alone now. Her world used to consist of eight unique and wonderful girls but now there was only one.

“Taeng? Taeng are you crying?” Jessica is approaching her, she could see it through the girl’s reflection on the window and she swiftly wipes the flowing tears in her cheeks; she hasn’t realized she was crying. The moment is followed then by series of questions.

“Who’s crying?”

“Taengoo?”

“What?”

In almost two seconds, everyone is standing before her, most of them frowning worriedly and her leader instincts kick in; she’s the one who’s supposed to be worried, not them. The stronger one.

She clears her throat with a smile. “So today’s the last day we’ll all be together.” It is a statement, a matter of fact and she knows that so well it makes her heart hurt and eyes teary but she bites her lip, swallowing every sign of agony down to the very pit of her stomach. “Being in So Nyuh Shi Dae made me a better person, brought me so much experiences I wouldn’t ever know and made me realize what I want. Knowing all of you, well it made my less perfect life complete. I’ll miss everyone and I promise to treasure this in my heart and for the rest of my life. Thank you!” She bows to her knees, deeply and sincerely, she’s grateful to all from the bottom of her heart. When she lifts her head, she finds Seohyun already crying, Sunny and Tiffany on the verge of tears while the others remain calm, staying strong. She can’t take it anymore as she chokes out a sob. Jessica outs an arm around her.

“I hope-I just hope that, wherever everyone else is, you guys will never forget.”

“Never! We’ll go out for lunch always!” Sooyoung chimes, sniffing already.

“We’ll go to amusement parks and play!” Hyoyeon confides, lips quivering and she leans to Sooyoung for support as she weeps.

Yuri is wiping her tears with her back hand, “We’ll travel to places and have fun. All nine of us.”

Seohyun holds Taeyeon’s free hand. “Unnie, we’ll never forget.” Yoona catches the maknae’s other hand and smiles at the leader through her tears. “We will always be together!”

“SNSD was epic! It will always be Taeng!” Sunny, the energy pill, exclaims, taking Sooyoung’s hands, who takes Hyoyeon’s.

“Every day I’ll be praying for you and everyone.” Tiffany smiles, the smile of an angel. She takes Hyoyeon’s hands and Jessica’s other hand. Jessica holds Taeyeon’s hand tightly and give her an encouraging smile. Everyone now has a genuine smile plastered on their faces and it feels like their first win on Music Bank all over again.

“Right now it’s Girls’ Generation, remember? Forever, it’s Girls’ Generation!” Jessica supplies the very last words for all of them. As they hold hands and stand in circle like the night on their first stage, she knows whatever may happen, SNSD is forever.
