Title: Cooplee Christmas Drabbles.

Author: Eertyecal

Summary: Because there are 12 days of Christmas I chose 12 words.  Here are the first six:

Rudolph

When Coop answered the door he was wearing a pair of flannel pajama pants, a big t-shirt and was coughing into his hand. Ashlee sighed “You’re sick”.

He coughed again “No, just a runny nose that’s all”.

She nodded “Yeah and a cough and fever and chills, and….”

“Okay”, he surrendered, “I’m sick”.

“Looks like dinner and a movie is inside tonight. We’ll just order pizza and see what’s on TV.”

She got him tucked in bed and curled up behind him. She grabbed the remote control and turned on the television. “Oh honey, Rudolph’s on. He looks just like you, red nose and all.”

He gave her a disgruntled look and laid his head back on the pillow. “That’s just what I needed to hear. Thank you very much for that Ashlee.”

She turned her head in a teasing way and said “it was meant in the most en-deering way”. He looked at her, rolled his eyes and sighed. Ashlee giggled. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t resist”. She pulled the blanket up over his shoulders and kissed him on the cheek. She whispered “That’s actually a really good comparison you know”…. He looked back at her questioningly. She smiled lovingly at him, “After all, he lit the way for Santa and you light the way for me.”

He grinned at her and said “Nice save.”

Sleigh Ride

Coop took Ashlee’s hand and led her outside into the snowy night. In Company’s parking lot was a horse drawn sleigh. Ashlee said “How did you arrange this?”

“Let’s just call it the magic of Christmas.” He kissed her on the cheek and then helped her into the sleigh. He pulled a red wool blanket up around them and gave the driver a wave to let him know they were ready. The horses stepped forward and the sleigh started to move. He put his arm around her and snuggled her close.

She said “This is perfect” and smiled up at him.

“Yeah but not as perfect as our first kiss though.”

“Awe, you thought our first kiss was perfect?”

“Yeah I did.”

“Well it was pretty special. You surprised me by coming back to kiss me. I was sure you were already half way to Ava’s by then.”

He looked at her puzzled, “No, I mean our first kiss….you know when you took my face in your hands and kissed me at Juvie?”

“Oh that?, That was a simple thank you kiss.”

“Really?”, “well in that case Miss Wolfe, I’d like to be thanked a lot more often.”

She looked into his eyes and said “Thank you Coop Cooper. Thank you for everything” and then proceeded to kiss him breathless.

Gift

Ashlee held out her hand and accepted the gift Coop handed her. It was a flat box wrapped in snowman paper with a large blue bow on top. She knew no matter what the box held, it was the perfect gift. She undid the ribbon and tore back the paper. Inside the box was a card that simply said “Kitchen”. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow and he shrugged his shoulders and said “Hmmm, it must be in the kitchen”.

She got up and walked into the kitchen. Sitting on the counter was another package. This one was a little smaller and wrapped in reindeer paper with lace ribbon. She picked it up and undid the ribbon and removed the paper. Inside this box was a card that read “Coffeepot”.

She gave him a puzzled look and he grinned and said “Santa must like coffee”.

She walked over to the coffee maker and there was a card attached to the coffeepot that read “ Make some coffee.” She pushed the button on the coffeepot to start the brewing and then turned to him and asked “Coop Cooper, where does this scavenger hunt end?”

He shrugged his shoulders barely able to contain his laughter. She went over to the cupboard and pulled out two mugs and sit them on the counter. As she did so she noticed the small package inside the one mug. She pulled out the tiny box wrapped in gold paper and tied with a bow. She lifted it out and untied the ribbon and removed the paper.

As she lifted the lid, she gasped. Inside was the most beautiful diamond ring she had ever seen. He walked over and removed the ring from the box and knelt in front of her.

He took her hand and said “I love you Ashlee. I have always loved you. I never stopped. You’ve given me a second chance and I don’t want to waste it this time. Make me the happiest man on earth and say you’ll be my wife.” She looked at him with tears in her eyes and nodded. He slid the ring on her finger. A perfect fit, just like them.

Candlelight

Ashlee turned and smiled at Coop as he took her hand and led her up the steps to the church. They hurried inside and after removing their coats, took their seats. The overhead lights were dimmed and candlelight graced the altar and stained glass windows.

He reached over and took her hand in his squeezing it gently. Their eyes met briefly saying everything their hearts felt. It was so serene, she almost didn’t want to breath, for fear the peaceful bubble surrounding them would be broken.

As the service neared it’s conclusion, they stood and walked to the front of the church. After receiving communion they each took a candle and helped form the circle around the sanctuary. The overhead lights were extinguished as each person lit their candle and then turned to light the next person‘s. Once all of the candles were lit, Silent Night was sung with a soft piano playing in the background. He reached down to take her hand in his once again. His smile assured her he would always be right there beside her. Then the church bells rang. It was Christmas……in her heart and everywhere.

Tree

After lugging it a full flight of stairs, Coop pulled the Christmas tree in the front door of their apartment and somehow managed to get it into the tree stand. He tiredly sighed “Finally” as he pulled his scarf and jacket off.

Ashlee walked up and wrapped her arms around him from behind and softly stated “It’s crooked”.

“Huh?”

“Yeah it is, look from the other side”.

He stepped over and looked at the tree from the other side, “It’s not that crooked”.

She looked at him with a raised eyebrow “Not that crooked?” “We can’t have a crooked tree”.

He looked at her and saw the determination in her eyes that told him he wasn’t yet done. He sighed putting his hands on his hips and looked heavenward shaking his head. He knew he lost the battle, but slowly an idea came to mind.

He walked over to her with a suggestive smile, “I think we should decorate the tree first”.

“Really?” “What did you have in mind?”

“I don’t know, what about this?” he asked and pulled the scarf from around her neck and tossed it up onto the tree.

She laughed. “That’s good. “How about this?” as she pulled the belt from his pants and hung it on a branch.

He grinned at her. “Okay, what’s next?”

She looked at him with a knowing twinkle in her eyes and said “Catch me and find out”.

He started chasing her around the living room. Several minutes later they were on the floor kissing, wearing nothing but their birthday suits, but the tree was decorated. With all their clothes.

Wreath

Coop was finishing setting up the advent wreath on the coffee table. Ashlee walked over and knelt down beside him on the floor. He asked “Did you always have an advent wreath when you were growing up?”

“Yeah, believe it or not it was always important to Doris”.

“Really”?

She nodded “It’s important to me too”.

He smiled and ask “Why exactly”?

“Well for all the obvious reasons, the season, the birth of Christ, but for personal reasons too.” She picked up the candle lighter and lit the first candle, “This one represents Love. The love I feel when you look at me”. He smiled as she moved on to the next candle. “This one represents Hope. The hope I have for a wonderful future with you.” She lit the next candle and said “This one represents Faith. The Faith that no matter what the future holds for us, we’ll make it through, together.” And this one represents Joy. The joy that overflows in my heart just knowing you’re here with me.

He kissed her softly and asked “What about the white one in the middle?”

She leaned over and lit the white candle aglow and said “This one represents the both of us combined into one. One, that will be here to light the candles next year.”

He placed his hands on her stomach and looked into her eyes with a huge smile on his face, “Really?”

She smiled at him with tears in her eyes, “Really……….Merry Christmas Daddy”.
