Last night as I sat down to watch GH, I realized that I never deleted GL from from DVR recording list. Earlier in the day I had caught a short preview of Ash/Daisy on youtube. So the fool that I am, I hit the play button and started scanning for the girls. I stop to watch Daisy with Grady, why I don't know, and the next thing I see is Coop and Beth in bed together. My first reaction is YUK! and I continue ff until I find Daisy with/Ashlee. I stop to watch. Pretty much the same old, same old, Ashlee trying to knock some sense into that block of wood on Daisy's shoulders and Daisy confessing she's in love with Grady. I then run across a clip of Coop by himself. He's in company doing paperwork, listening to headphones. I stop and watch. He's thinking back to when he ran into Beth at the college and she was upset and he offered to help her with her papers and to buy her a cup of coffee. Back to Coop listening to the headphones and he's smiling thinking about this. I'm thinking No! No! No! There's a reason I decided to become a daily recorder of GH and this reminded me of why.
After scanning the rest of the show and viewing the remaining scenes of Ashlee/Daisy/Grady. I'm thinking can they really have Coop caring for such a used piece of ****? So while I know the lasagna I put in the oven won't be done for another 30 minutes, I start the show over and ff to the Coop/Beth bedroom scene. I know, I know... but at least I hadn't eaten yet. I stop to watch and the first 30 seconds are disgusting so I won't elaborate, but then Beth is telling him she needs to leave and he wants her to stay. She looks back at him over her shoulder and says "we agreed to let this be what this is" and he looks hurt. Its apparent right away that she's using him for a sex toy. She gets a phone call from Alan and stops to talk with him. When she gets off the phone Coop asks her what's wrong and she replies "It's nothing you need to be involved with". Later in the show he is talking with Frank about Lizzie's kidnapping investigation and Frank say's you still care about Lizzie? He says yeah and her family.
Later Beth is at home, hugging Alan and her cell rings with a text. She looks down and it says "You Okay?". She sort of rolls her eyes. What a total bitch!
I know at this point you are probably all questioning my sanity, but in some weird unexplainable way, I am glad I watched that. I still think the whole story is ridiculous and disgusting. But it appeared clear to me that they are setting Coop up for heartbreak. He's lonely and he's still heartbroken. He is just grasping for something to fill the void. Coop caring for her? Well, I think that's just the Coop we've come to love. If he was just using her and not feeling anything for her, that just wouldn't be "our" Coop.
I'm a fool for love, especially the Cooplee type, but I actually feel a little more hopeful today. Hopeful that a heartbreak at some point will need some comforting and Ashlee Wolfe may be the only woman for the job.
