so over the course of the past 24 hours, i've watched most of dawson's creek season 5. i have 4 episodes left. out of 23. and if you've seen it more than once and don't like it, then you obviously have no taste for true drama. part of the reason i love this show so much is because of the way it makes you look at your own life. yes, some of the dialogue is kind of out there and it's can be hard to believe that so much happens to just a small group of people and they all have monumental issues and talk waaay too much, but that's also why the show is so endearing. these people, whom we get to know very well, get into very believable situations, and their incessant dialogue discussing what happens and how they feel, they're just voicing their inner emotions that most people are far too afraid to admit to. dawson leery, for whom the show is named, believes that the answer to any of life's questions can be answered w/ the correct spielberg film. well, WB seems to have created a show that holds the answers, or at least some sort of guide to any of the possible conundrums facing adolescents and college kids today. sex. like whoa. love. drugs. drinking. relationships of any kind. friends. death. life. homosexuality. mental disorders. sex w/ friends. sex w/ friend's exes. greek life. dating. truth. honesty. lies. the future. school itself. it's all there. and while the situations may not be the same as a real person's life, it still helps simply to put things into perspective. i've always loved this show, and i just now realized why. it's real. in a totally fake way, of course, this is one the first teen soap operas, to be followed by felicity, gilmore girls, the oc and grey's anatomy. it reaches a uniquely teen audience, and gives them hope that even though there are times that life really really sucks for whatever reason and you feel totally alone, life goes on. people move on, things change and you get a second chance.
that's it.
