Last month
parklife417 and I went to see half of Travis (Frand and Andy or as they jokingly called themselves, Frandy Travis) play a small club in Minneapolis.
The doors opened at 5:30 pm, but the show didn't start until 8pm. So
parklife417 and I grabbed some expensive food and entertained ourselves by watching the people around us. It was entertaining, yet by the time show time came I was ready to stand up. Unfortunately it was a seated show, but a great seated show at that.
Fran walked onstage by himself and started the show with 20. Andy joined him afterward and the main part of the show started. Fran told many many stories throughout the night to reveal more about the songs as the show went on. Plus, they included a very nice slideshow that added just a bit more fun to the show. And as always, the inclusion of Flowers in the Window always makes me happy!
As Driftwood started, a guy near us got agitated and started shouting to Fran to hurry up. It got into Fran's head so much that he messed up the song and stopped. After finally getting it together and finishing it, Fran dedicated We Are Monkeys to the guy who left soon after that.
After the show
parklife417 and I waited for the boys to sign stuff at the merch stand. As we waited, the couple in front of us asked me if I'd take a picture of them with the boys. Of course I said yes since I was already taking one for
parklife417 anyway.
Our turn came and I took the picture of the couple with the boys. Then just as I gave their camera back and was waiting for
parklife417, Fran says to me, "Hi, we've met before...." I shake his hand and say, "yes..back in April..." To which he replies, "before that?" I say, "yes..." I shake Andy's hand and Fran asks if I enjoyed the show. Of course I tell him how great it was and always look forward to their shows. Fran then asked if I wanted a picture. I declined but he told me I should anyway, "to break up the line." So I got between Fran and Andy for a picture and as I thanked them, Fran gave me a slight kiss on the cheek and Andy gave me another handshake.
parklife417 gave her porfolio to the boys and Fran nearly jumped over the table to thank her with his excitement! I'm sure the boys have many great pictures of themselves live, but to get one from a fan like that is probably pretty cool for them.
Overall, the day was near perfect. I say near because I could have used a little Dougie on stage with the boys. But he wasn't there and Fran's stories nearly made up for it. Oh, and since Fran remembered me this time and Dougie last time, that worked too. :)
