On Sunday, Erik and I walked 14 kilometres from Oud Ootmaarsum in the Netherlands, through Vasse and Mander, across the German border, through Getelo and into Uelsen. Towards the end I was reasonably tired and had a huge load of endorphins so I started laughing goofily at not much at all. I can now say that I've entered Germany by plane, by train, by car, by bike and by foot. I should imagine Germany's quite sick of me.

When we were there having dinner with Erik's mum and stepfather, Erik's mum told us that Erik's stepfather has a malignant tumour in his bowel. Hopefully we'll hear more soon.

My Doc Marten boots finally arrived from America and they're OSSIM. I am now, however, in the special hell that is breaking in a pair of Doc Marten's - my right foot has two sticking plasters on it, the left just one, but it hurts more. It's totally worth it though once they have been broken in, it's just the first month is totally like... ow.

I have also ordered another pair of shoes from the States, because if you need Western cowboy shoe-boots like I do, don't even bother shopping in the Netherlands, you need Kansas, Texas or Arkansas (are there any other states that end in -as?).I think I need to get down to the South and go on a shopping spree because I feel the desperate need for country cross-over music, embroidered denim shirts, stetsons and spurs and want to hang out with some good ol', boot-scootin', corn-fed, Southern kin who say "Hoooo doggy!" and eat southern-fried chicken and mashed 'taters. Why? Because it would be cool, dang it.
