Vampire Diaries, 3.11 "Our Town"
. . . or what Eena is calling 'The Crackship Hour'.
Seriously, how can this show from making me unbelievably angry and then totally back in love with it less than five days later?
It's like being in a relationship . . . with an asshole like Damon.
But seriously, the birthday/funeral (plus underage drinking in the Fell tomb) was probably the first thing the show did to turn me around again. And I feel weird, but since I haven't seen anyone mention this before, I can't help but feel like Tyler was the most tragic figure on the show today. I get the Stelena drama, the Caroline angst, and the Jonnie lingering regret-but Tyler seriously had everything in his life totally crushed and ripped away. He thought he had it, people! He thought he was stronger than others were giving him credit for, that he could say no when he wanted to, needed to. It wasn't enough to erase everything else, but for a guy whose life has been put through the toilet for a sacrifice and a curse that actually had little to do with him-it was like some silver lining, finally.
But alas, it was not to be. Did any of you see his face? When he did what Klaus ordered anyway? The light just went out in his eyes and he was just so utterly devastated in that second . . . poor bb. Yes, you've been a d-bag lately, but you're a teenage boy with a lot of daddy issues and life (or just Kevin and Julie) seems to hate you A LOT.
Oh, and what the hell show? I wanted bat-shit crazy!Klaus of the books, not this charming, seductive, amoral killer that has chillingly sympathetic moments. WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME CHEER FOR THIS MAN?!
Also-Bonnie Bennett. IS. THE. BEST. EVER! If Bonnie spends the rest of her time on this show doing nothing other than calling all the other characters out on their bullshit, I would be okay with that.
And I feel kind of bad, because even with everything's that happened, my declining love for Elena kept doing just that-declining. She's kind of regressing back to that early season one version of herself where I didn't care for her at all and kept hoping that Katherine really would throw her off Wickery Bridge, just like in the books. I just-I get the character development and her wild desperation at this point-but it's still wrong, and if anyone did that to her the rest of fandom would be up in arms and ready to go to war. All this hand-waving because it's Jeremy and people don't like him as much really bites. I get that a character should have flaws, but this is getting to be like my Damon problems. If you don't learn from your past mistakes, then Eena is justified in rolling her eyes and fast-forwarding through your scenes until they have a decent amount of crazy!Stefan in them.
Let's have more Klaus and more Caroline in the future, please. If we have them together-all the better.
