1. Overall thoughts: I am so happy to be back at writing this year. I've been absent from any form of writing for about a year before I exploded this May-and all this fanfiction is kicking me along the way for my original story.
2. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: Honestly, I wrote way more than I thought possible. The writing bug had left me hanging for a while-new job, newly married, new house, new town-just so much stuff that writing kind of got shoved to the background.
3. What did you write that you'd have never imagined yourself writing?: I never thought I would get started on my own story. It's only about five thousand words in, but the idea has been with me for years. I've only now started fleshing out characters and plots and storylines-and all the fanfiction has been good for the muses, as well as practice.
4. Out of all of the fics you've written this year, which is your favourite? Hands down,
No Matter Above Or Below, my first ever Big Bang story. It's a Vampire Diaries/Supernatural crossover, with Caroline Forbes as the main character. It's my favourite because it makes me feel so accomplished, and I put a lot into it. The first time I've tried a story focused more on an individual rather than a romantic pairing-and it came together so well in the end. It's the story of my heart-I'm so proud and so happy with how it turned out.
5. Take any writing risks this year?: Tried my hand at some new genres, the Tudors fic, as well as entering into the TVD fandom. Also, my first threesome fic in
Soft But Estranged!
6. Any goals for the New Year? : Perhaps another big bang?
What was, in my humble opinion:
My best fic this year?
No Matter Above Or Below My most popular fic this year? No Matter Above Or Below got the most recommendations, but as for reviews . . .
The Way It Hurts I think has the total most reviews. It's a Damon/Caroline story I wrote for
redbrunja.
My most under-appreciated fic? Probably
We're All Mad Here-my first Tudors fic. I think because it's about Jane Parker/Lady Rochford, one of the minor characters on the show (and not nearly as popular). But what can I say? I have mad love for the side characters.
Most fun to write? My first Caroline/Tyler fic:
Like A Dog With A Bone. It was fun to write from Tyler's perspective, especially on Damon.
Hardest to write? That has to be
Personal Demon. I love Buffy, I love TVD, but meshing the two together was more difficult than I thought it would be. I have tried other failed BTVS/TVD stories that got deleted because they sucked, and this one took a lot of time and energy-and it still needs a sequel to feel complete.
Biggest disappointment? I tried a Caroline as a Slayer fic-it was one of the aforementioned sucky BTVS/TVD things I wrote-so it got it's ass deleted.
Biggest surprise? My one and only Katherine story-
Copper and Emerald. I was surprised I could do it, as I wasn't feeling Miss Pierce back then. I've come around lately . . .
Most unintentionallly telling story? Again, Soft But Estranged. Never thought I could do plausible threesome fic, and now they're pretty much all I think about.
A story I want remembered? No Matter Above Or Below-it's my proudest fic accomplishment.
In conclusion: I'm glad to be back!
